ECOEARY is a product packaging design that we innovated to substitute plastic and styrofoam packaging that cause problems all around the globe. With the use of 100% fully bio-degradable materials and its remarkable mushroom shock absorber with its eco-friendly nature, we aspire ECOEARY to be the future breakthrough.
The materials come from recycled paper packaging and mushroom based casing. These types of materials is because we support green campaigns by optimizing the management of materials starting from using recycled paper in the form of cardboard to using a zero waste mushroom packaging.
The packaging that we design is divided into 3 main components; mushroom packaging, carton box and carton partitions. We decided to use mushroom material to wrap around the fragile light bulb. With only 30x20x15cm in dimension, the box is really efficient and compact in size. The parts of the lamp are put into different sections which are the shade, arm, base, cables, and the bulb and will be placed inside the cardboard arrangement model. There is mushroom packaging for the light bulb with 7x7x11cm dimension because it needs extra protection, strong enough to withstand pressure from the delivery process.
The recycled paper carton is designed and shaped with honey-comb structure. This structure allows less amount of material used which implies a low material cost. Frankly speaking, the hexagonal structure has a great bearing performance increasing its durability. To test its durability, studies with modern computer-aided design show that the bigger the space in between the distance of the comb, the higher the tensile strength. The strength acts as a substitute of the bubbles in bubble wrap to cushion impact from forces.
When customers open the package, there will be a writing Saying the past life of the carton. By doing this, customers will have a sense of belonging making them reuse the package instead of throwing it right away. There’s also a printed environmental label, showing that this is recyclable. The ink we will be using comes from soy ink. Another thing we find useful is how we create a small gap so customers can take out the parts easily. The honeycomb structure could also be extended to become extra shade so the desk lamp now becomes a projection lamp!

Discription is too long. Function wise may amount to meaningful reduction in GHG emission. But needs a thorough calculation
Thank you for the input! We will try and improve this in the future.
